Despite a disappointing 3-0 loss to reigning champions Brazil, England’s blind football side have one eye on the knockouts as they close the group stages against Costa Rica in Madrid tonight.
The final group D match kicks off tonight at 6pm UK time as England look to mathematically secure the runners up spot and qualify for the second stage.

Jon Pugh’s side opened their campaign with a convincing 4-0 win over bottom of the group Mali, with goals from Daniel English, Brandon Coleman and Roy Turnham resigning the African nation to an early exit. In their second game, World Champions Brazil outclassed the English to automatically qualify with an uncompromising three wins out of three.
Unless the Central Americans can produce a shock to beat the Three Lions 16-0 to turn over their huge goal deficit of -14, the English side already have one foot in the knockouts.
The quarter finals kick off tomorrow with England set to take on Colombia or last championship’s runners up Argentina should they get past Costa Rica without upset.
