Father and daughter duo John and Dearbhaile Brady swept the board in Birmingham’s National Dwarf Games, racking up an incredible twenty medals between them.

Both dad John and 10-year-old Dearbhaile have Hypochondroplasia with the school pupil collecting 11 medals for running, javelin and swimming last month.

Northern Ireland’s haul of 62 was no doubt propped up by the lofty Brady effort, but the youngster has set her sights high, aiming to emulate idol Ellie Simmonds.

“Everything about it was brilliant,” Dearbhaile told BBC News NI.

“I would love to see more people involved in the games. It would make it more competitive. You always meet loads of friends at the games and you connect with different people every year.

“I’d love to go to the Paralympics some day.”
