Gordon Reid advanced to the second round of the French Open this afternoon after he charged past doubles partner Alfie Hewett in a blistering 90 minutes at Roland Garros.
Helensburgh’s Reid performed something of an upset, knocking the defending champion out in a comprehensive 6-4 6-4 victory on Court 9 to set up a semi-final clash tomorrow afternoon with Japan’s Shingo Kunieda.
Carrying through strong form from his Korean Open triumph, Reid edged out the world number one in his first win against his countryman in a major.
Reid is in semi final action against Kunieda tomorrow ahead of his doubles semi final.
