Para sports continue to blaze the trail for the home nations as Sophie Thornhill and Helen Scott seal England’s first gold of the games, shortly after Neil Fachie and Matt Rotherham scooped Scotland’s first.
Thornhill and Scott’s blistering start to the Games began with an incredible world record in the qualifiers for the Women’s B&VI Sprint, but they held off stiff competition from home favourites Jessica Gallagher and Madison Janssen to claim gold.
The English cyclists took the title after the first two laps of the final pulling out well in front of Gallagher in their opening event.
The duo’s second event is on Saturday in the 1000m Time Trial at 09:38 where she will face Scot Aileen McGlynn. Watch it on the BBC Red Button.
