Scottish boccia sensation Stephen McGuire has continued to dominate the 2018 circuit with August’s World Championships fast approaching.
McGuire, who has won every contest in 2018, added to his impressive form with another BC4 title at the British Championships in his native Scotland.
The Scot, who will head into the Worlds in Liverpool as world number one and top seed made light work of the Championships in Largs at the weekend, as his brother Peter McGuire took bronze in the category, while England’s Evie Edwards placed second.
With no real surprises served in Scotland’s National Sports Centre with the highest ranked athletes scooping up victories, three-time Paralympian and Rio gold medallist David Smith snagged an incredible 15th British Championship title, asserting his long-time influence over the BC1 category.
Northern Ireland’s Claire Taggart sealed her maiden UK title in the BC2 while Jamie McCowan became the first Brit to champion both in the BC3 and BC4 categories following reclassification to BC3.
The World Championships are at Liverpool’s Exhibition Centre from 12-18 August.
