The Dorset Devils Wheelchair Basketball Club which is run by The Dorset Destroyers Wheelchair Rugby Club to give more disabled people in Dorset the opportunity to play a competitive sport. The club are offering free taster sessions ahead to their official launch this year.
Last week a soft launch took place which nine people attended and the club very well received. Chesil Radio’s Nikki Latham did a live video section from the club as we trained, which went down rather well and was very good publicity for the club.
Free taster sessions will be held every Wednesday Night from 7 till 9pm at Rossmore Leisure Centre, Herbert Avenue, Poole, until and including Wednesday February 7. On Wednesday February 21, The Dorset Devils Wheelchair Basketball Club will officially with the Mayor of Poole Cllr Lindsay Wilson in attendance and involvement in the sport.
NEW PLAYER QUOTE: “IT BEATS DOING A WORKOUT IN A SWEATY GYM! IT’S MORE LIKE BEING WITH A BUNCH OF FRIENDS RATHER THAN DOING A SPORT.”
The club intends to set up some friendlies and to get a league team up and running for 2019. But for now the club will continue with the fun of learning a new sport ahead of the launch.
