Richard Whitehead produced another mid-distance masterclass at the weekend, smashing the T61 400m world record in Leverkusen.

The marathon man turned track titan went sub 50 seconds over the 400m for the first time after narrowly missing out on the achievement last week in Nottwil, where he clocked in at 50.26 seconds.

But the 41-year-old recorded a time of 49.84 seconds in Germany as fellow Brit Luke Sinnott marked a season’s best with a jump of 6.01m in the long jump T61 event.
